New Horizons For Seniors Grant Award

I recently had the privilege of presenting a $25,000 award to a local  group under the New Horizons For Seniors program (NHSP).

The Program provides funding for projects that encourage seniors to play an important role in their communities by volunteering, participating in and leading community activities. The program also provides funds to help organizations make necessary modifications or repairs to their existing facilities, or to purchase/replace equipment and furnishings to enable programs and activities for seniors.

The 2016 Ontario 55+ Summer Games will take place August 9 to 11th, 2016 at various venues in Midland , Penetanguishene, Tiny and Tay townships. There will be twenty sporting events such as golf, tennis, bocce, shuffleboard, euchre, walking running, Pickleball, etc. The New Horizons grant will go towards for up-grading shuffleboard and carpet bowling equipment.  Joining me for this award was Midland Mayor Gordon McKay. The Summer Games are hosted by Midland and neighbouring communities.  Accepting the NHSP grant on behalf of the Games Organizing Committee was the Chair, Mr. Chester Graham.
