File your taxes now to avoid future interruptions to CCB and/or GST/HST credit payments.

Each year, a number of benefits recipients fail to file their income tax and benefit returns,  with the consequence of having their payments interrupted. To rectify avoid this situation, recipients of the Canada Child Benefit or GST must file their taxes as soon as possible.

The CRA extended these payments for the benefits recipients who were unable to file their 2019 returns by the June 1st deadline and who had been receiving these benefits based on their 2018 tax information.  The extension has now come to an end and eligible benefits recipients who have failed to file their 2019 returns, will see their payments interrupted.

·       If you still haven’t filed their 2019 tax return, you need to do so as soon as possible to avoid any future interruptions to CCB, GST/HST credit, and related provincial and territorial programs.

Once your 2019 tax return is filed and assessed, your payments will be reinstated if you are still eligible.

·       If you owe any tax amount on your 2019 income, you have until September 30, 2020 to pay. Late-filing penalties or interest will not be charged if payment is made by that date
