Government of Canada Support for Festival du Loup
Lafontaine, ON, July 17, 2015 – Bruce Stanton, M.P. for Simcoe North was pleased to announce funding for two organizations; La Meute Culturelle de Lafontaine and Comité l’Action Place – Lafontaine, this weekend at the annual Festival du Loup. In making the announcement, Mr. Stanton commended the outstanding efforts of the festivals’ organizers.
“I congratulate the organizers of the Festival du Loup for their commitment in keeping this annual celebration of the francophone community the highlight of the summer season at Lafontaine Park, and I am proud to see the Government of Canada supporting their efforts” said Bruce Stanton, M.P.
The Government of Canada committed $20,000 in funding for the 2015 programming for Festival du Loup, and $18,450 for La Musée Vivant de Lafontaine. Comité l’Action Place received $22,000 in funding for each of their fiscal years 2015/16 and 2016/17 to support Le Goût de Vivre (regional francophone newspaper). These programs support the important arts and cultural activities of Georgian Bay’s local francophone community and provide Canadians with more opportunities to learn and celebrate our local history and heritage.[caption id="attachment_3180" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Simcoe North M.P., Bruce Stanton with organizers at Festival du Loup, 2015[/caption]
About Festival du Loup
La Meute culturelle de Lafontaine is the umbrella organization that oversees the Festival du Loup, Lafontaine’s Living Museum and Lafontaine Storytelling. The mandate of La Meute culturelle is to transfer cultural knowledge from generations past and present, to generations to come. From July 16 to 19, 2015, le Festival du Loup will commemorate 400 years of francophone presence in Ontario.
